Microneedling

Microneedling

SkinPen microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface to stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process, leading to the production of collagen and elastin and skin remodeling. This treatment is generally safe for all skin types and can be customized to address specific skin concerns.

Microneedling is a collagen induced therapy used to eliminate visible skin conditions that naturally occur as our body ages. Microneedling is a treatment method that uses very small needles to penetrate the skin and create micropores. These tiny holes allow oxygen and nutrients to enter the skin while also allowing toxins to exit. Microneedling is a lot like your body’s natural healing process.

Which device we use for Micro-
needling?

We use SkinPen®, which is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. It’s also made in the USA – which means it’s rigorously tested for safety. With SkinPen®, 94% of patients noticed an improvement in how their fine lines and wrinkles looked at one month post-treatment. 90% of patients said they would recommend SkinPen treatment to family and friends at one month post-treatment.

How long to see results?

Initial results will be seen within the first few weeks. However, since changes happen on a cellular level, it is a gradual process. It is also important to note that most people will need multiple sessions to reach optimal results.

Side Effects

This treatment is considered safe for most people, but there are a few exceptions. People who use certain acne medications should not undergo microneedling, as it can cause further irritation and inflammation. The procedure is also not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. In addition, people with active infections or open wounds should not receive microneedling treatments. Otherwise, the risks associated with the procedure are relatively low. The most common side effect is minor redness and irritation, which typically resolves within a few days. There are no long-term side effects associated with microneedling.

FAQs

As we age and battle skin conditions, the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates, which can lead to these fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin texture. Microneedling is a great way to address these signs of aging at the cellular level. Microneedling comfortably creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing process using a SkinPen by Bellus Medical. This results in skin remodeling, including the formation of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin. The outcome is beautiful, youthful looking skin.

The SkinPen by Bellus Medical will be used by our professionals to create thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process while minimizing cellular damage. This rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.

There are three phases to the wound repair process:

  • Phase I: Inflammation. Your immune system begins to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow, and regenerate new tissue by piercing the skin.
  • Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is reconstructed with granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. In addition, a new blood vessel network is created.
Phase III: Remodeling. New dermal tissues and blood vessels are formed.
